
Michi Hirata is currently working now as a free-lance make-up artist and make-up instructor at MH Professional Make-up Studio.
She came to the United States in 1973. 8 years prior to her arrival, she was working as a make-up artist and beauty consultant for Shiseido cosmetic company in Japan. In 1977, she graduated from Yamano Beauty College in Hollywood and obtained her cosmetology license. A year after that, she enrolled in the professional make-up school Elegance International (EI) in Hollywood and received certificates in Motion Picture, Theatrical, Cosmetic Correction, High Fashion Professional Make-up Artistry, and Special Effect Make-up and Technical Lab-Prosthetic Construction. In 1979, she assisted Bob Schiffer, the make-up supervisor of Disney Studio in Hollywood. In 1980, she became a free-lance make-up artist. Since then, she applied make-up and styled hair for over 50 movie stars and more than 1000 models in Hollywood studios or locations for prints, videos, television commercials, and movies.
Leading celebrities included were Bon Jovi, Rod Stewart, Frank Sinatra, Herbie Hancock, Dana Winter, Morgan Fairchild, Burt Lancaster, Ernest Borgnine, Henry Mancini, Kirk Douglas, Star Wars characters, Lee Van Cleef, John McEnroe, Steve Garvey, Avery Schreiber, Vince Edward, Charles Bronson, Richard Edlund, Athur Hailey. She also attended by invitation to the 53rd and 54th Annual Oscar's Academy Awards.
